Sussex Cancer Fund has purchased six ‘at home’ blood pressure monitoring machines for patients attending the new Metastatic thyroid clinic. Patients are being overed a new drug called lenvatanib which has shown great results in trial for offering prevention of disease progression for this group of thyroid cancer patients.
However, this drug has its down sides and has shown a significant effect on blood pressure. New new blood pressure machines will allow to self-monitor their blood pressure at home between weekly clinic visits so any changes in blood pressure can be identified quickly.
The Sussex Cancer Fund would like to Penny Cattaneo and David Shannon for their help in raising funds to enable Sussex Cancer Fund to purchase this equipment.
