Gabby Bignell is a massage therapist working with haematology and oncology patients in the Royal Sussex County Hospital through the charity Full Circle Fund Therapies and thanks to the generous support of the Sussex Cancer Fund.
The Sussex Cancer fund is delighted to be providing Clinical Massage Therapy to Cancer patients at BSUH. The services run by the charity Full Circle Fund has been in place for the last year. The Sussex Cancer Fund wanted to ensure that the service could continue and as a result have stepped in and joined forces with Full Circle by providing the funds necessary to pay for the service for a further 12 months.
About Gabby
Gabby qualified as a sports & remedial massage therapist in 2010 from the London School of Sports Massage with a BTEC Level 5 diploma, and subsequently developed an interest in supportive therapy and massage-based rehabilitative work in the clinical environment working with Full Circle at St George’s Hospital, London.
Gabby aims to help people increase relaxation and reduce muscular tension and general wellbeing through a combination of different massage strokes and techniques. She also enjoys using her skills at sporting events.
When not massaging, Gabby enjoys freediving, playing the flute, cycling and fine art illustration, and these interests feed into her private practice where she sees a wide variety of people from many different backgrounds. She also has a private massage practice in Brighton.
Gabby says: “It is a privilege to work with people during their time in hospital. I hope my treatments help give some feeling of normality and, despite clinical interventions, restore a sense of connection and a feeling of being oneself again.”
SCF & Charity Partners
Julia Lenton, Fund Manager, commented ” We have had great feedback from patients receiving Gabby’s massage therapy and the Sussex Cancer Fund is very keen to work with other charities. By supporting Full Circle by providing funding for another year, we can ensure that many more patients will receive this service and feel some of the benefits”.
