Local supporter Marie Taylor took to her sewing machine and has been making beautiful charity face-masks in return for a donation to the Sussex Cancer Fund. Marie intended just to make a few masks but they proved to be very popular and has now made 50 masks and raised over £240. People have been really kind by not just buying masks but also making extra donations too.
We asked Marie why she was supporting the Sussex Cancer Fund
Marie said ” I was treated at the Sussex Cancer Centre for breast cancer in 2016. It all came as a bit of a shock as my diagnosis was through the Mobile Breast Screening Programme. I had no idea there was a problem until I received a letter afterwards asking me to attend an appointment at Worthing Hospital for further screening. To cut a long story short, I then had chemotherapy and radiotherapy at the Brighton Cancer Centre. The care I received there during my treatment was fantastic and all the staff so kind, caring and incredibly reassuring.”
We would like to say a big thank you to Marie and to all those that have donated or purchased Marie’s beautiful masks.
