We are delighted to present the Big Match Tennis Fundraiser in Brighton on August 1st. The Pro-Am Doubles Event at Preston Lawn Tennis Club, will also be hosting a charity auction including prizes donated from Jamie Murray and Marcus Willis on the day. We will also have appearances from Andrew Castle and Wimbledon Doubles Champion Jonny Marray amongst others. Kindly organised by Barry Fulcher a former cancer patient and tennis enthusiast.
Barry Fulcher commented “The Charity Tennis event & Auction planned for this summer in Brighton will mark the ten year anniversary of my own brush with The Big C! It was undoubtedly a dark time for me personally, however, I consider myself fortunate. For me, there was a light at the end of the tunnel, a way out. For far too many, there isn’t.
The people I encountered – both carers and fellow sufferers brought me strength. Seeing how people that live with this illness and face up to it with such dignity and bravery humbled me then, and still humbles me now. This page and the associated events are a small gesture on my part; a nod of the head to a personal milestone, but primarily to give something back to the amazing Nurses, Doctors, Volunteers, the NHS, the Sussex Cancer Fund and support staff and the courageous sufferers and their loved ones who battle this illness every day.”
