Sussex Cancer Fund SCRC Awards – Apply Now
We’re delighted to open applications for the Sussex Cancer Fund SCRC Awards, created to support innovative and impactful cancer research across Sussex. These awards are designed to help early-stage or emerging projects take their next steps, particularly where researcher time is funded elsewhere but essential consumables or additional investment are needed to move work forward. Grants of up to £10,000 or up to £30,000 are available.
These awards are ideal for projects that may be too preliminary for major funding streams but have real potential to grow into competitive research with the right support. We’re especially keen to receive applications that focus on any of our priority areas:
- AI and data-science approaches applied to cancer research
- Use of established datasets/resources (e.g. Our Future Health, UK Biobank)
- Cancer prevention, early detection, rapid diagnosis, or contributors to long waiting times
- Mental health and cancer
All applications are reviewed by independent experts and a multidisciplinary research committee. Projects are assessed on:
- Potential impact on cancer patients
- Research quality
- Originality
- Alignment with priority areas
- Strength of the research team
We particularly welcome teams that demonstrate:
- A strong track record of excellence and impact
- New and promising collaborations enabled by this award
- Support for talented emerging researchers in Sussex
- Partnerships between universities and clinicians
These awards are made possible thanks to the generosity of Sussex Cancer Fund supporters and donors, whose contributions directly fuel research that can improve the lives of people affected by cancer in Sussex. If you’re working on a project with the potential to make a meaningful difference, we would love to hear from you.
