Sue Thomas will be cycling from London to Bristol for Sussex Cancer Fund
between the 28th April – 1st May 2019. Read Sue’s story below…
“2019 is the 10th anniversary of my remission from AML (acute myeloid leukaemia) and I am so lucky! To celebrate this milestone, I am planning to do a 4 day sponsored bike ride with my brother from London to Bristol, starting at Putney Bridge and finishing at Clifton Suspension Bridge. We will only be using NCR 4 and the Kennet and Avon canal
Over the last 10 years, I have raised over £2500 for Bloodwise, by doing activities such as walking with Sir Ian Botham, cycling the London Bikeathon and numerous car boot sales. However, this time I am raising funds for the Sussex Cancer fund, which is a fantastic charity, supporting local people in Sussex who have cancer. I am hoping to raise £1000″
Here are some updates from Sue
Day 0ne – Cycled 47.8miles yesterday from start at Putney Bridge to Maidenhead. Today weather good and off to Newbury
Day Two – Second day completed. Camped at Newbury. Varied terrain yesterday roads, fields and towpaths. Encountered fallen tree over towpath and field of frisky long horned cows! All challenges met and 47.8 miles completed. Today Newbury to Devizes on minor roads and towpath. Then one more day!
Day Three – Day 3 has been easier in that it has been on small tarmaced roads but harder in that we have climbed over 1800 metres! One more day – but I am feeling really good
