The Sussex Cancer Fund is delighted to be involved with a Cancer Research and Fundraising event organised by students from the Brighton & Sussex Medical School (BSMS). The students are from the Oncology, Haematology and Palliative Care (OHP) Society, a student-led society at the Medical School. While the event is celebrating and demonstrating the impact of making a donation has on overall cancer research projects the society has chosen the Sussex Cancer Fund as their beneficiary for their fundraising efforts.
The online event is taking place on Saturday 13th March and tickets are just £5. This is your chance to hear first hand how cancer charities turn donations into life-saving studies including some of the those supported by the Sussex Cancer Fund.

About the Cancer Research Showcase
On the 13th of March 2021, we will be hosting a Cancer Research Showcase. During this event, we wish to show our audience how donations to cancer research help researchers, clinicians and most importantly, patients.
The idea of donating to “cancer research” can seem ambiguous. What exactly does it mean to donate to cancer research? How is the money used? Does it actually make a difference?
We aim to answer these questions, by hosting a selection of speakers, including cancer researchers, who will share their experiences. By showing the importance of donations to cancer research, we hope to encourage our audience to donate. Whilst we have elected to donate the money we raise to our local cancer research charity “The Sussex Cancer Fund”, our message is to donate to cancer research in general.
COVID-19 has impacted all of our lives. Cancer research has been affected a great deal. However, we can help. By supporting our charities and spreading the knowledge about the power we each possess, we can save lives together.
The Sussex Cancer Fund works with the NHS to create new and improved facilities for cancer care in Sussex, including purchasing specialist equipment, providing additional patient services, refurbishment projects and funding cancer research studies. It is likely that every Cancer Patient in Sussex will have benefitted from something the Sussex Cancer Fund has provided.
