Peter Finnigan Joins Sussex Cancer Fund as Relationship Manager
The Sussex Cancer Fund is thrilled to welcome Peter Finnigan as its new Relationship Manager, joining as only the third member of the team alongside David Witham, Fund Manager, and Joanna Godden, Marketing Manager. Peter brings a unique combination of professional expertise, personal experience, and a longstanding relationship with the charity that will help us expand our efforts to support cancer patients in Sussex.
Peter’s connection with the Sussex Cancer Fund dates back over a decade. In 2014, he played a pivotal role in organising the Trek Jordan fundraising event, which contributed significantly to the realisation of the Macmillan Horizon Centre. His efforts helped create this vital facility, which continues to provide comprehensive support for individuals and families navigating their cancer journey.
Peter’s professional background is equally inspiring. With a career spanning advertising, marketing, and senior roles at respected charities such as the Anthony Nolan Trust and the Bhopal Medical Appeal, he has cultivated exceptional skills in relationship building, strategic fundraising, and high-profile event management.
Peter’s relationship with cancer care is deeply personal, having been treated for throat cancer in 2013 at the Brighton Cancer Centre. This experience has given him unique insights into the challenges faced by cancer patients and their families, as well as a profound appreciation for the resources and care provided by organisations like the Sussex Cancer Fund.
In Peter’s words:
“Joining the Sussex Cancer Fund feels like coming full circle. My professional and personal experiences have given me a deep understanding of the challenges of cancer care and the importance of resources like those provided by the Sussex Cancer Fund. I am excited to work with such a dedicated team and help make a tangible difference for patients in our community.”Lou Scott, Trustee of the Sussex Cancer Fund, commented:
“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Peter to the team. He has already made a tremendous impact on the charity through his fundraising efforts in the past, and his wealth of experience in fundraising and relationship management will strengthen our ability to meet the growing need for our services. As the demand for our work continues to rise, Peter’s expertise will be a valuable asset in helping us grow and support even more patients.”The Sussex Cancer Fund works hand in hand with the NHS to enhance the lives of cancer patients in Sussex. By funding essential equipment, services, and innovative Sussex-based cancer research programs, the charity addresses both immediate patient needs and long-term advancements in cancer care. Peter’s role will be instrumental in raising the funds needed to support this critical work.
Sussex Cancer Fund “We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our supporters, whose generosity makes it possible for us to grow our team and continue our mission. Your contributions have a direct impact on the lives of cancer patients and their families.”
Peter will be working part-time, joining David Witham and Joanna Godden to further strengthen the charity’s relationships with donors, stakeholders, and the wider community. Together, the team is dedicated to making life better for cancer patients in Sussex.
