We are lucky that every year we have supporters that run the Brighton 10k for us and this year is no exception. One of our runners is writer, a social media & multimedia content creator, Jessie Madrigal. Jessie has made Brighton her home, after originally growing up in Southern Spain.
Jessie’s Story
“I lost my mom to cancer (It will be 4 years ago at the start of September), and when I was 15 I lost a dear school friend to this wretched disease. I know Covid has meant a lot of losses, patients unable to see their loved ones, treatments being rescheduled. Sussex has become my home, and I just wanted to give something back. I live by myself, with a chronic illness, and the people of Brighton and surrounding areas are some of the warmest and loveliest I’ve ever met (I’ve lived in Belgium, Spain, the North of the UK, Germany, and Brooklyn, New York. )
During lockdown, my little dog and I have felt a lot of love, even from strangers. I ran the London Marathon in 2019 and did a couple of ten-milers eons ago, but this is my first 10k in the UK. I suffer from chronic fatigue and chronic pain in my pelvis and limbs since I have complex endometriosis. I run because it helps manage my pain levels.“
We wish Jess the best of luck and thank her for her support and all those that have donated so far. If you would like to contribute to Jess’s fundraising you can do so via the button below.
