Introducing Our London Marathon Runner 2026: Paul Kaynes 🏃♂️💜

Introducing Paul
We’re delighted to introduce Paul Kaynes, who will be representing the Sussex Cancer Fund in the TCS London Marathon 2026!
Paul is a well-known and much-loved member of the Hurst Pretenders Walking Football Club, one of our valued community partners. Having lived in Sussex for the past 25 years, Paul has deep roots in the county, both professionally and personally.
He has spent much of his career running businesses and now regularly lectures at Brighton University on the International Business Masters Programme, sharing his extensive knowledge and experience with the next generation of entrepreneurs.
As well as being a qualified business mentor, Paul is a strong believer in the power of sport to improve wellbeing and support mental health. He’s played an active role in developing local sporting communities, helping to set up several clubs and local football teams, and is also a proud member of Burgess Hill Running Club, keeping people connected and motivated through sport.
Running for the community
This won’t be Paul’s first marathon, he previously took on the challenge in support of a meningitis charity, a cause very close to his heart after contracting the illness himself at the age of 20. Now, he’s lacing up his trainers again to raise funds for the Sussex Cancer Fund, inspired by friends, family, and teammates who have been affected by cancer.
Reflecting on his motivation for supporting SCF, Paul said:
“Cancer has touched so many people I know and care about, and I’ve seen the impact it has on families and communities. The Sussex Cancer Fund does incredible work supporting local hospitals, patients, and research right here in Sussex, and I wanted to do something meaningful to help. Running the London Marathon gives me that chance.”
Paul’s already been putting in the miles, taking part in impressive training events such as Run Barns Green and the Venice Half Marathon, with many more to come as he prepares for the big day in April 2026.

Partnering with Sussex Cancer Fund
We couldn’t be prouder to have someone with such drive, kindness, and community spirit representing us.
Jo Godden, Marketing & Communications Manager at the Sussex Cancer Fund, said:
“We are so grateful to have Paul supporting the Sussex Cancer Fund, not only through his incredible fundraising efforts, but also by sharing his professional expertise and championing our work within the community. His passion for bringing people together through sport and his dedication to helping others truly reflect the spirit of Sussex.”
