Improving Patient Feedback in Radiotherapy Services

At Sussex Cancer Fund, we are proud to support projects that help improve the experience of people receiving cancer care across Sussex.

Thanks to funding from Sussex Cancer Fund, three new patient-facing tablet devices have been introduced across local radiotherapy services. The tablets form part of a radiographer-led Quality Improvement project being delivered by the radiotherapy team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.

Making it easier to be heard

The tablets will be available in radiotherapy waiting areas and will allow patients to complete patient experience surveys while they are on site. This makes it simpler and more accessible for people to share feedback about their care, with staff on hand to help patients get connected if needed.

By capturing feedback at the point of care, the radiography team can ensure that patient voices are heard consistently and meaningfully.

A radiography-led Quality Improvement project

This initiative is part of a wider Quality Improvement programme led by the Trust’s radiographers, focused on enhancing patient experience within radiotherapy services. The project aims to strengthen how feedback is gathered, reviewed and used to shape ongoing service development.

The introduction of these tablets supports the team to:

  • Collect patient feedback more consistently
  • Understand what is working well in radiotherapy services
  • Identify opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure patient experience remains central to service design

Plans are in place for how feedback will be reported, reviewed and incorporated into future improvements, helping to turn insight into action.

Our impact

By funding the tablets, Sussex Cancer Fund is helping to enable a practical, patient-focused project led by local NHS radiography teams. It’s a great example of how charitable support can complement clinical expertise to improve everyday care for people affected by cancer.
