Staff Nurse Ryan and Deputy Sister Julie are running the Tough Mudder for the Sussex Cancer Fund on September 21st. Julie and Ryan both work on the Level 8 Courtyard Ward at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. They look after patients with a wide variety of needs related to their cancer diagnosis, such as management of sepsis, administration of chemotherapy and end of life care.
The Sussex Cancer Fund supports the ward with additional equipment and in return, Julie and Ryan have taken up the challenge of the Tough Mudder.
Ryan, Staff Nurse explains “We are running the Tough Mudder 12km obstacle course to raise money for the Sussex Cancer Fund, a great charity that works with the NHS to create new and improved facilities providing the best possible cancer care for Sussex. “
“We’ll be jumping into ice pits, crawling under barbed wire and getting very VERY muddy! (Also being electrocuted at the end, something Julie has only just found out about!)”
“Any money raised will go directly to helping the patients we treat and their families through a very difficult time, any contribution will be greatly appreciated!”
