We are thrilled to share the story of Sean, a nursing student from the Royal Sussex County Hospital (RSCH), who is bravely taking on a skydive to raise money for the Sussex Cancer Fund. Sean’s motivation comes from a deeply personal place, and we are incredibly grateful for his support.

During his second year of university, Sean received the life-changing news that he had been diagnosed with cancer. As a patient at the Sussex Cancer Centre in Brighton, Sean experienced first-hand the care, compassion, and expertise of the incredible team who work there – from the nurses and healthcare assistants to the reception staff and his oncologist.

Throughout his treatment, Sean was supported every step of the way, even during his most difficult days. He shared how the team always kept him motivated and smiling, helping him through his chemotherapy with kindness and encouragement. Their impact has stayed with him, inspiring him to give something back.

Now, with treatment behind him, Sean is determined to turn a tough anniversary into a positive and empowering experience. On 19th June – a date that could have been marked with difficult memories – Sean will instead take to the skies and complete a skydive in aid of the Sussex Cancer Fund.

I didn’t want 19th June to be the day I remembered my cancer came back,” Sean explained. “Instead, I decided to do something exciting and raise money to support the amazing team who cared for me. I will forever be grateful to them.”

Sean hopes the funds raised will help us continue supporting the Sussex Cancer Centre, enabling staff to provide the best care possible to patients facing cancer.

We are so touched by Sean’s story and immensely grateful to him, his family, and everyone who is supporting his fundraiser. What a powerful way to say thank you and make a difference to others.
