The Sussex Cancer Fund is thrilled to announce that we will be hosting the Arlington Bluebell Walk at Bates Green Farm on Good Friday, 18th April 2025. This annual event is a perfect way to enjoy the beauty of spring while supporting a great cause.
About the Arlington Bluebell Walk
Every spring, Beatons Wood at Bates Green Farm comes alive with stunning displays of nature:
- A green carpet of emerging bluebell leaves.
- A white blanket of wood anemones.
- A unique mix of green, white, and blue as the English bluebells bloom.
- Vistas of blue as the bluebells reach their peak.
- Peaceful tranquillity as the trees unfurl their leaves and the bluebells fade.
This magical transformation is a must-see and provides a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature.
What You’ll Find on the Day
- Stunning Walks: Explore a 24-acre ancient oak wood, accessible for all with gravelled paths suitable for wheelchairs and mobility scooters. Seating is available every 150 yards.
- Farmland Walks: Discover six other scenic walks across the surrounding farmland.
- Animal Experiences: Watch cows being milked from a viewing gallery (3:00 pm–5:00 pm) and visit the petting animal area.
- Family Fun: Enjoy a children’s quiz with answers found on boards throughout the walks.
- Refreshments: Savour homemade soup, scones, cakes, and light lunches in a large insulated barn, with all proceeds supporting the Sussex Cancer Fund.
- Other Attractions:
- A second-hand book room by Action Medical Research.
- A plant stall by Arlington Church.
- Hailsham Old Pavilion Society (HOPS) stall and ice cream.
- Photographic competition with prizes.
How You Can Help
We need your support to make this event a success!
- Volunteers: Help with hosting, guiding visitors, or serving refreshments.
- Cake Bakers: Donate your baked creations to be sold at the event, with proceeds going to the Sussex Cancer Fund.
- Visit: The Sussex Cancer Fund will get a percentage of your ticket price and all proceeds from the café.
