🎢 A Wellbeing Boost for Brighton’s Chemo Team – Thanks to You! 💙

At Sussex Cancer Fund, we know that cancer care isn’t just about treatment – it’s also about the incredible people who deliver that care, day in and day out, with compassion, skill, and unwavering commitment.
That’s why we’re so grateful when donors choose to support staff wellbeing, helping us take care of the very people who care so deeply for others. One such kind and thoughtful donor recently made it possible for members of the Chemotherapy Suite team at the Sussex Cancer Centre in Brighton to enjoy a well-deserved day out at Thorpe Park – a chance to relax, recharge and share some fun away from the pressures of the clinical environment.
“The nursing team at the Sussex Cancer Centre work so hard every single day, committed to providing the best possible care for our cancer patients. We are often helping patients through a very challenging and distressing journey, and so as a team to be able to have an opportunity like this to go to Thorpe Park is so wonderful,” said Ryan Crockford, Nurse Manager.
“This has only been made possible through donations to the Sussex Cancer Fund allocated for the nursing team. With donations such as this, we’ve been able to buy takeaway pizzas on particularly tough days when breaks were scarce, enjoy team days out like yesterday’s Thorpe Park visit, or even go bowling together. It makes such a massive difference to team morale, and everyone that went yesterday wants to extend their most heartfelt thanks to Sussex Cancer Fund and the donors who made it possible. Thank you!”
Cancer care is a highly rewarding but emotionally and physically demanding field. Staff are often supporting patients through some of the most difficult moments of their lives, and that takes not only professional expertise but also deep reserves of empathy and emotional resilience.
A day like this – full of rollercoasters, team bonding and laughter – gives staff a much-needed break, a morale boost, and an important reminder that they are cared for too.
We’re incredibly proud to support initiatives like this and to pass on the generosity of our donors in meaningful ways that directly benefit the people delivering frontline care.
To that kind donor – and to everyone who supports staff wellbeing through donations to Sussex Cancer Fund – thank you. Your kindness doesn’t just make a difference; it helps sustain the energy and spirit of the teams at the heart of cancer care.
